Community Area Maintenance Grant Scheme 2022


The range of items eligible to be funded or part-funded by this scheme will have a Litter Prevention or Litter Reduction Focus.
Please note that the maximum grant awarded will be approximately €200.
These may include:
  • Purchase of items such as brushes, litter pickers, rakes, shovels, high visibility vests, etc, to be used for litter clean-ups.
  • Purchase of lawnmowers, strimmers, flower boxes, plants, shrubs, street furniture etc, to be used in the clean-up and improvement of public green areas.
  • Communications, photocopying and publicity costs associated with litter clean-ups.
  • Prizes for children involved in litter clean-ups.
  • Miscellaneous costs and items incurred in the area of Litter Education, Litter Prevention and Litter Reduction.

Eligibility

  1. Applications will only be accepted from Community Associations/Groups, Residents Associations and Men’s sheds within Cork City Council’s administrative area. Applications from individuals or other groups will not qualify.
  2. Community Area Maintenance Grants are subject to Cork City Council's approval. Work funded with the Area Maintenance grant from previous years must be completed, fully drawn down and receipted before further funding can be allocated
  3. Applications will only be accepted by completing the official online application form.
  4. Closing date for submission of completed application forms is March 16th 2022.
  5. The maintenance work to be undertaken will be of benefit to the community.
  6. Equipment purchased will be used for clean-ups or enhancement of public areas.
  7. Applicants will be informed via email of any grant award of grant made.
  8. Any applicant awarded a grant will be required to digitally sign an acceptance form.
  9. Applicants will be responsible for maintenance and/or insurance for any equipment purchased under the scheme.
  10. Receipts and photographs of award expenditure must be submitted by the 31st October 2022 to Cork City Councils Submit platform. A form will be created for this purpose and all awarded applicants will be provided with a link for access. Only original itemized till receipts will be accepted. Grants will not be paid on foot of dockets or invoices with “paid” written on them.
Grants will not be provided for
  • Labour costs either by individual residents or by contractors on their behalf involved in maintenance work. e.g. grass cutting, pruning, cutting trees, etc.
  • Painting of buildings, the provision of chemicals, provision of insurance cover, provision of litter bins or dog faeces bins, provision of any CCTV equipment, removal of graffiti, repairs to walls, etc.
